Medical Phone Calls

A nurse is available to help answer questions Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM 5:00 PM, and on Friday from 8:00 AM 12:00 noon. When you call, please give the receptionist your name, date of birth, Social Security number, phone number and a brief message. The nurse will make every effort to respond within 24 hours. Please allow two weeks from the date of your procedure before calling the office for radiology or pathology results. A nurse will contact you if your results require an urgent response. If you have an urgent medical condition, please notify the receptionist so that your call can be handled properly.

Prescription Refills

To avoid any additional cost, we ask patients to request prescription refills at the time of the office visit or procedure. Refills requested, any other time, will have a processing fee of $15.00 We are unable to refill medications after office hours and if it has been more than one year since your visit, you will need to make an appointment. When calling the office to request refills, please have the name of the medication, dosage and phone number of your pharmacy. You may also use our patient portal for refills on your medications, the link is on the home page of our website.

Please note, medications prescribed and sent to your pharmacy will be placed back into inventory, if not picked up within ten days. The pharmacy will retain the medication order on file for six (6) months. You do not need to have Gastroenterology Associates resend the prescription., unless it has exceeded six (6) months time.

Medication Authorization

If you need assistance obtaining an authorization for a specific medication from your insurance company please have the insurance company fax the form to Gastroenterology Associates. PA 864-240-8140. The form must contain the patient's name, date of birth, prescribing doctor's name and the name of the medication needing authorization..

Emergencies After Office Hours

For emergencies occurring after 5:00 PM, please call the office at (864) 232-7338. The answering service will take your call and give the information to the doctor. If your call has not been returned within one hour, notify the answering service that you have not received a return call.

Urgent Medical Attention

If you need immediate medical attention, call 911 for assistance.

Billing and Insurance

Office Services Payment for all office services is expected when service is provided. For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Our paid office bill may be used as a claim form, which you may forward to your insurance company for reimbursement under the terms of your policy. You may also use our patient portal to pay your bill, the link is on the home page of our website.

Hospital and/or Outpatient Procedures We file insurance claims for professional services provided at the hospitals or the Greenville Endoscopy Center. We allow sixty (60) days for payment for these services. If you anticipate payment problems, please contact our Billing Department at (864) 451-5095.

Medicare and Managed Care Health Plans

We are participating providers with Medicare and several managed care insurance plans, and we follow the rules set forth by those plans. You are responsible for all deductibles and co-payments for your plan at the time of service. Please check with your insurance carrier to confirm that we are "in network".

Pre-Certification for Procedures and Admissions

Please determine prior to your visit if your insurance company requires pre-certification for your visit, hospital admission or procedure. Your insurance company may not pay for your bill if the service is not pre-certified. We do not guarantee your insurance benefits. Routine or preventative services may be non-covered services. You are responsible for the bill once service is rendered. Communicate with us to ensure payment by your insurance company.
